The second album from six-piece Kopecky, Drug for the Modern Age takes the many shake-ups the band’s endured over the past few years and turns them into inspiration for groove-driven, melody-heavy alt-pop that’s intensely emotional and strangely exhilarating. “The album was written in this weird time of so much pain but also happiness, and that really informed the writing and recording,” says vocalist/guitarist Gabe Simon, who co-founded the group with vocalist/keyboardist Kelsey Kopecky in 2007.
Madison band Dolores’ spunky, psychedelic rock is infectious and their charisma is unbridled. Frontman Javi Reyes dances goofily and bounces around the stage; bassist Willie Christianson seems to have a smile permanently etched on his face; keyboardist Adam Thein steadily churns out funky, psychedelic melodies; drummer Teddy Mathews is lively behind the drum set. It all comes together to create a lively, enjoyable show. [Badger Herald, 2/26/15]
Treading North is a band based out of South Minneapolis in the great Northern state of Minnesota. Comprised of seven green yet skilled misfits trying to find their way through the sewers that are the music business. They come together to create a unique Jazzy, Bluesy Anthem Rock sound. The band is comprised of lead vocals, back-up vocals, drums, two guitars, keyboard, bass and saxophone. Together these people who come from different backgrounds in music meld together to create a unique sound that’s been beaten, torn, caressed, kissed, frozen, burned, loved into becoming a dream.
