Get Gone, the potent debut album by the Shreveport, Louisiana natives in Seratones, makes a strong case that this little-known corner of the state is fertile ground, musically speaking. A.J. Haynes (vocals), Connor Davis (guitar), Adam Davis (bass) and Jesse Gabriel (drums) serve up a combination of Southern musicality, garage rock ferocity, and general badassery. Haynes’s powerful singing voice, first honed at Brownsville Baptist Church in Columbia, Louisiana at age 6, rings across every track. Davis’s bass and Gabriel’s playing propel every song with the grit, energy, and rawness of punk, the feeling of soul, and occasionally, a little jazz swing. The other Davis offers a clinic in guitar riffs, from swaggering blues to searing interstellar leads.
Eleganza!, formed by Brian Vanderwerf, guitarist/vocalist for the Estrus Records band, The Midnight Evils and the celebrated Chooglin’ (Fat Possum/Big Legal Mess Records), is a 3-guitar ROCK AND ROLL attack featuring Vanderwerf and Chooglin’ bandmate, Jeff Johnson, and ex-Ol’ Yeller’s Greg McAloon. Also on board is the legendary Tony Zaccardi of Romantica & Kruddler on bass, and his longtime partner in crime Tim Baumgart (Wizards Are Real/Big Ditch Road/Kruddler) on drums and August Varvig on harmonica.
The Carnegies are about REAL, authentic music that today’s modern generation has seemed to have forgotten. Driven off of a raw, overdrived power, we are about carrying on the classic music of garage rock such as “The Rolling Stones”, “The Jimi Hendrix Experience” to “Cream” , and “The Yardbirds”, and along with all the other Blues/Psych Rock bands back in time. We are a three piece consisting of Taylor Tolle on the guitar, Royce Mars on drums, and Roman Mars on bass.
