With a sound that “would have made it perfectly at home on the radio in 1983”, Dance Assault is a Minneapolis-based electro-pop group blending equal parts synth-pop & funk. The group originated as a one-man project, but has since evolved into a 3-piece band whose songs are entirely written and produced by their front man, Carson, who also plays synthesizers ad sings lead vocals in the group. Dance Assault just released their first full-length album in the Summer of 2015, and is preparing to release an EP in 2016.
Lady Lark is a Minneapolis artist with a sound reminiscent of 90’s R&B and Classic Pop that transports you back to roller skates and your favorite radio mix tapes. Her songs are contagious and blend two decades of pop, soul, dance, and funk into a sexy package.
Human Heat is the new Minneapolis-based project from Alex Schaaf, former Yellow Ostrich bandleader and touring member of The Tallest Man on Earth. Featuring synth-inflected R&B, swirling around dark melodic soundscapes and warm harmonies, a debut full-length is being readied for later in 2017. The live band includes local musicians Matt Vannelli (Haley Bonar, Van Stee, Warehouse Eyes), Kevin Scott (Eric Mayson, Hotelecaster, Warehouse Eyes), and Mike Gunvalson (On An On, Val Son, Warehouse Eyes).
Meinong’s Jungle was formed in January of 2014 by Sam Rivkin, Eric VanderVorste, and Nicholas Voltaggio after nearly a decade making music together in various combinations and projects. Gigging locally around Minneapolis over the course of the next year the band honed in on a cohesive sound all its own.
