Minneapolis rock legend, Mark Mallman has created a masterwork that turns the classic concept album on its head. The End Is Not The End was released March 25, 2016 on Polkadot Mayhem. In this age of cynicism, with too many people believing rock is dead, comes a sincere telling of an emotional trial we all must face at some point. Mark Mallman has created a 21st century Scary Monsters, except this time, the good guy wins.
Chris Riemenschneider has been covering the Twin Cities music scene since 2001, long enough to earn a shout-out from Prince during “Play That Funky Music (White Boy).” The St. Paul native was also a music critic at the Austin American-Statesman for five years.
Andrea Swensson is a music reporter at Minnesota Public Radio’s 89.3 The Current and the voice of the Local Current Blog. She has been covering Minnesota music actively since 2005. Prior to joining MPR she was the music editor of City Pages, where she founded the AAN Alt Weekly Award-winning Gimme Noise music blog, and edited and contributed to online music sites Reveille Magazine and howwastheshow.com. You can hear Andrea on The Current every Friday at 11am, when she checks in with Barb Abney to talk about the Local Gig List, as well as on Sundays from 6 to 8pm, when Andrea joins David Campbell on The Local Show.
Lori Barbero is known as the drummer and co-founder of the iconic all-female ‘90s band, Babes in Toyland – one of the greatest all-female rock bands of all time. Barbero formed the Minneapolis trio with lead singer/guitarist Kat Bjelland in 1987. Even though Barbero was not a drummer at the time she met Bjelland, Kat convinced her to start a band with her. The rest, as they say, is music history.
