Born and raised in Minneapolis MN, Andrew Broder has dedicated the better part of his thirty-plus years to carving out his own singular path in music. Andrew has spent time as a cutting and scratching battle DJ, a snotty punk rocker, a challenging and thoughtful improviser, soundtrack composer, working sideman, producer, remixer, beat-maker, poet, beauty creator, brutal noise-monger and above all a fearless, restless and provocative songwriter.

His work is a study in surprise and defying expectation. With his records as Fog, he re-defined the turntable as a compositional tool, and his contributions since to avant hip-hop, rock, jazz and noise have been equally engaging, and envelope-pushing. His lyrics are cutting and evocative, his melodies poignant and tart, and his curiosity leads him to unexpected juxtapositions in sound and image.

Currently, he is producing new work for his solo project Fog, fronts the rock band The Cloak Ox, creates detailed and immersive electronic music under his own name, makes beats for rappers and has his hand in numerous other projects and collaborations. In whatever genre or medium he works, he takes the listener somewhere they have never been, or makes them more keenly aware of somewhere they already are.

Spank Rock’s latest release, the six-track EP The Upside (2014), is an intense dose of club-ready rap, featuring production by New Orleans trap upstart Kid Kamillion, Philly hip-hop producer Noah Breakfast, Don Loemax, With You (Switch and Rick Trainor), German techno producer Boys Noize, and a long anticipated track with Amanda Blank (of “Bump” fame). Fast, ghetto, provocative, and complex, The Upside was one of the most unique and creative dance records of 2014.

Dua is a multidisciplinary performing artist based in Minneapolis.

As Psymun, producer Simon Christensen has stealthily created a sprawling, instrumental dream world. Anchored in unadorned beats and eerie samples, his instrumentation flickers, flows and flips on itself. Although Psymun is known by many as a collaborator, his production stands out on its own, as exhibited on his solo EP, Pink Label, an 8-song collection of shifting moods and many colors, but throughout, a consistently beautiful and expansive project. Psymun is 1/4 of thestand4rd, whose debut album was released last fall.

Pow Wow drum group from the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Primarily comprised of members of the Ojibwe Nation, Midnite Express performs in ceremonial tribute, honoring native history and paying homage to our forebears. Their singing and dancing is driven by dewe’igan—the drum—a vessel carrying not only sound, but hope and resistance.
