ASTRONOMIQUE arose out of inspiration from the ‘60s-throwback psychedelic artwork of vocalist/keyboardist, Logan Andra Fongemie (Satellite Voices). Joined by Sean Hogan (The New Monarchs) on guitar/vocals and Mitch Billings on drums, the trio envisioned a soundtrack that would compliment their visual component. Namely, a nouveau approach toward New Wave synthpop, inspired by the likes of The Cure, Depeche Mode, A Flock of Seagulls, and outerspace itself.
MAPLE & BEECH
Childhood friends Tyler Tholl and Pete James Johnson make synthy, experimental pop under the name Maple & Beech. Together with a large cast of horn players, string players, and singers, the Minneapolis duo released their debut album, RUNDAWDAW, independently in 2017. The record includes the single, “Cavers,” which Indie Shuffle called “one of the most creative indie pop tunes of the year thus far.”
