Comedians bring their moms to perform their stand-up.
Hosted by RANA MAY
SHELLY and KAREN PAUL
KHADIJAH and CICI COOPER
MARY JO PEHL
NOTE: This is a seated show.
Rana May’s deadpan delivery, absurdism, and fascination with science make her comedy stand out like a shoe on a pizza. Rana was persuaded to try stand up comedy after doing “informational speeches” at backyard barbeques and in basements. Her background is in social work, dog rescue, parking lots, and used book stores, where deadpan is considered a strength.
SHELLY AND KAREN PAUL
Shelly Paul is the oldest of 5 kids and was born and raised in Minnesota, where she started doing stand-up in January of 2014. Her comedy is incredibly personal, bitingly poignant and just a little bit absurd. She’s not afraid to be vulnerable and honest on stage, which might make you leave her shows feeling that somehow you’ve known her your whole life, and are pretty sure that you’ve got matching tattoos to prove it. Wait, what?
Ellie is a mom. She is also a woman. She has a two-year-old son named Burt. She rarely has the time or ambition to paint her toenails. She was a long-time cast member and writer at the Brave New Workshop Comedy Theater, focusing on satirical sketch and improv comedy. She now performs stand-up comedy around Minneapolis, both solo, and sometimes with her husband, Casey.
Casey Nelson was an unsuccessful indie-rock musician until 2013, when he decided to try failing at stand up comedy instead. Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he is too polite to tell you that he is very good at comedy. His strange personal stories and songs have even earned him some awards, including the House of Comedy Funniest Person with a Day Job 2015. Casey is a regular performer at Boy Kisses Comedy Showcase in Minneapolis, and recently became a father so if you have any extra diapers laying around he will take them off your hands.
“Just started doing stand up. Took my tragic life and turned it into a funny 5 minutes.”
Ci Ci’s love for acting started at a very early age while watching the “Not Ready For Primetime Players”, the original cast for SNL. Ci Ci always dreamed of becoming a comedic actress to make people laugh the way she enjoyed laughing watching SNL. While Ci Ci’s true dreams and passion of acting was on hold for over 25 years she is now enjoying chasing her dreams and passion of acting on a full time basis!
