Ghost Wagon (then Gaslighters’ Union) was a little surprised when it came in 6th in fan voting for the Star Tribune/Vita.MN’s 2015 new song of the year contest, but did not get passed along to the finals’ round. But, just like the themes thoughtfully explored in Ghost Wagon’s tunes, life does not easily hand you an opening slot at First Avenue followed by a trip to South by Southwest. Ups and downs – strikes and gutters.

As you know, though, this is not about awards or money or fame. Certainly not anymore – not at this stage of the game. Probably never really was about that. This is about the music and sharing it with others. To that end, Ghost Wagon has been sharing the music locally while regularly performing at venues such as Lee’s Liquor Lounge, 7th St Entry, Nomad World Pub, LynLake Brewery, Inbound BrewCo, Urban Growler, Dubliner Pub, Acadia Café, Longfellow Blues Fest, Driftwood Char Bar, Contented Cow, Hat Trick Lounge, The Dubliner, 331, and Lift Bridge Brewery.

The Federales: Classic country for the modern world. We’re not from the Black Hills, the Texas Panhandle or Appalachia. We’re from the Twin Cities. Damn proud of it, too, but we play country music, because it’s one of America’s native languages.

We use it to tell our stories of love, good times, Grain Belt & friends. Some are fact. Some are fiction with the truth hiding in there somewhere. All of them are heartfelt. We’re pickers, fiddlers, groovers & harmonizers. We’re ready to make you sing along, get up and dance or just sit and tap your toes. We’re The Federales.

Called “one of the most brilliant songwriters to emerge from the Twin Cities in nearly two decades” by southernminn.com, Doug Collins’ hooky mix of Beatle-esque pop and classic country are highlighted in his energetic shows (both solo and with his crack band, the Receptionists), soulful singing, and honest, emotional songs. His last two CDs were voted “Best of the Year” by the Minneapolis Star Tribune and his most recent, Good Sad News, was was voted #3 best American release in Spain by Ruta66 Magazine.

Doug Collins – vocals, guitar
