Artistic Partner Pekka Kuusisto and SPCO Principal Bass Zachary Cohen inaugurate a new series at the Turf Club with a performance of duos for violin and bass that will traverse a wide variety of musical styles.

Please note: This is a seated show. Ticket price includes a drink of choice (wine, beer, craft cocktail, or non-alcoholic house-made beverage).


THE SAINT PAUL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra is widely regarded as one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world. In collaboration with a team of artistic partners, its virtuoso musicians present more than 130 concerts and educational programs each year, and are regularly heard on public radio’s Performance Today which reaches 1.3 million listeners each week on 289 stations, and SymphonyCast reaching 250,000 listeners each week on 143 stations nationwide. The SPCO has released 67 recordings, commissioned 139 new works, and performed the world premiere of 49 additional compositions. The SPCO has earned the distinction of 17 ASCAP awards for adventurous programming. Renowned for its artistic excellence and remarkable versatility of musical styles, the SPCO tours nationally and internationally, including performances in premier venues in Europe, Asia and South America.


PEKKA KUUSISTO

Described as “one-of-a-kind” by Toronto’s The Globe and Mail, Pekka Kuusisto is renowned for his fresh approach to the repertoire. Highlights of the 2017/18 season include concerto appearances with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, Orchestre de Paris and Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. He also embarks upon a European tour with the Philharmonia Orchestra as well as appearing with the Orchestra throughout the season, play-directs the Karajan-Akademie der Berliner Philharmoniker with tenor Mark Padmore, and takes up a mini-residency at Pierre Boulez Saal with REDDRESS, a collaborative project with South-Korean artist Aamu Song that blurs the boundaries between performance and visual art.
